Pacific Park’s Colorful New Giant Wheel

News

Pacific Park at the Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica, Calif. unveiled a new Chance Giant Wheel on May 28, 2008.

A state-of-the-art computer-generated lighting system with 160, 000 energy efficient led lights is one of the main features of the new wheel. In addition to high energy savings, the illumination system will display dynamic, eye-popping computer generated lighting entertainment in the evenings.

Depending on the season, the lights are capable of illuminating a Valentine’s heart, Fourth of July American flag, or a Christmas wreath.

The new wheel replaces a 1996 Chance Giant Wheel which was sold on an eBay auction to Grant Humphreys of Oklahoma City, Okla. Humphreys has
commissioned Chance to build a new base for the wheel, as the original base was not included in the sale. Chance will also be refurbishing the wheel before delivering it to Humphreys sometime next year.
