TEA Recognizes BRC Imagination Arts’ Projects, Executives

News

Grants Thea Award to Arizona Science Center’s "Forces of Nature" Gallery, Names BRC’s Scott Ault to TEA International Board of Directors

At the recent IAAPA conference held in Orlando, the TEA (teaconnect.org), a non-profit association representing the world’s leading creators, developers, designers, and producers of educational and commercial attractions, recognized the recent achievements of BRC Imagination Arts (brcweb.com) by granting a Thea Award to one of its newest projects and electing one of the company’s top executives to the TEA International Board of Directors. This recognition culminates an exciting year for BRC, which in recent months has opened several projects and will celebrate the Grand Opening of the new Heineken Experience (heinekenexperience.com) in Amsterdam on December 9.

BRC-designed "Forces of Nature", a new gallery at the Arizona Science Center (azscience.org), Arizona’s leading resource for public understanding of science, will receive a Thea award, an acclaim that is internationally recognized as the museum industry’s equivalent of an Oscar. The first of several revitalized galleries created to bring science and technology to families and school groups in the Phoenix area, "Forces of Nature" helps guests understand and respect Earth as a dynamic planet by allowing them to experience the earth as never before, where colossal amounts of energy are captured and matter is recycled again and again between land, air and water. The "Forces of Nature" gallery opened in April 2008 and has become one of the most popular destinations in the center, which is currently undergoing a massive $25.2 million upgrade.

BRC is no stranger to awards. This is the 15th Thea Award given to a BRC project. During its 26-year history, BRC has received two Oscar Nominations plus over 250 other international awards for creative excellence.

Noting BRC’s role in transforming some of the world’s most popular museum exhibits into meaningful – even magical – educational experiences, the TEA last week also elected Scott Ault, BRC’s Chief Operating Officer to its International Board of Directors. With more than 22 years of experience in the themed entertainment industry, 14 of which have been with BRC, Ault has been an integral part of the company’s growth and evolution, and since 2006 has overseen all of its operations.

"It’s an honor to join the TEA’s international board. Having been involved with the organization for many years, I’ve witnessed first hand the impact the TEA has on our industry. I look forward to contributing to its future growth, " said Ault.

The annual Thea awards bring recognition to achievement, talent, and personal excellence within the themed entertainment and experience design industry worldwide. "Forces of Nature" is being recognized for excellence in museums and attractions around the world. At the Thea Awards ceremony in The Disneyland Resort’s Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, California on March 7th, 2009, the award will be accepted by the project’s Executive Producer for BRC, Tisa Poe, together with Chevy Humphry, the Director and CEO of the Arizona Science Center.
