20th Century Fox Consumer Products and HerChain Clothing Company have announced the opening of three new The Simpsons retail stores in China.
The news comes just weeks after the first ever The Simpsons shop opened in Beijing.
The new stores, in Shanghai, Xian City and Beijing, will offer over 125 specially designed items reflecting the show’s distinctive style.
The Simpsons stores are scheduled to open during second-half of 2016 beginning in Shanghai’s Grand Gateway 66, Xi An Wu Huan Department Store (Xian), and a second location in Beijing at Joy City.
Peter Leeb, Vice President of Worldwide Brand Marketing, Strategy and Partnerships, 20th Century Fox Consumer Products, commented: “The new locations, in high traffic city centres and department stores, position The Simpsons store to attract a wide and diverse composition of consumers.”
Industry professionals are being offered the chance to view the branded merchandise in a replica store at the 20th Century Fox Consumer Products booth (#Q192/O200) during the 2016 Licensing Expo in Las Vegas, NV.
The Simpsons, created in 1990 by Matt Groening, was declared the “Best Show of the 20th Century” by Time Magazine. The longest-running scripted show in television history, it has won multiple awards including 32 Emmy Awards and 33 Annie Awards. It was nominated for an Academy Award in 2012 for its short film, ‘The Longest Daycare’.
