Theme Design: Abernathy Lighting Design Takes the LEED and Becomes Accredited

Abernathy Lighting Design INC. would like to announce and congratulate two of their designers who have passed the Leadership in Energy and  Environmental Design (LEED®) AP exam for professional accreditation.


Christopher A. Abernathy, LEED AP and Associate Lighting Designer for ALD currently serves as associate professor for the Department of Music, Theatre and Dance at Rhode Island College and is entering his thirteenth year as a Professor of Design and Technical Direction. Since the Inception of Abernathy Lighting Design, Chris has collaborated on several projects such as the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame, National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame and Retail, The Greenbrier Hemisphere Restaurant, 3880 Lounge and Ripley’s Believe it or Not.

Chris holds a MFA in Lighting Design from the University of Missouri at Kansas City and a BFA in Stage Design from Webster University and is a member of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT).

Jason J. Rainone Associate IALD, LEED AP and Lighting Designer for ALD, has been working with Abernathy Lighting Design since 2002 and has collaborated on a great many projects, including The New World of Coca-Cola, The Tampa Bay History Center, and Ripley’s Believe it or Not.

Jason is an active member of the Rhode Island Green Building Council, and currently sits on the committee’s for Finance and Sponsorship, in an effort to further advance green initiatives and environmentally conscious design in the state of Rhode Island.

Jason holds an MFA in Lighting Design from The University of Missouri- Kansas City and a BA in theatrical design and technology from Rhode Island College. Jason has also served as a guest lecturer and designer for the Olathe, Kansas school district and for Rhode Island College.
