Zoo attracts over 1 million visitors for third year in a row
The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium has 1 million reasons to be thankful this November, as the Zoo, for the third year in a row, passed the million visitor milestone.
“We are so excited that, yes, we did it again for a third year in a row, ” says Dr. Barbara Baker, president and CEO of the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium. “To be able to reach this milestone again is a real tribute to our visitors who continue to support us.”
The lucky 1 millionth visitor was 8-year-old Aaron Adamo of New Castle. Aaron and his family received a lifetime Zoo Membership, a $500 shopping spree at the Zoo’s gift shops, and a behind-the-scenes tour for 10 people. “This was totally unexpected, ” says Jana Adamo, Aaron’s mom. “It was a last minute decision to come and then we won! It is a good day, ”
“With the sluggish economy, people were looking for fun and affordable venues close to home and the Zoo was the perfect choice, ” says Dr. Baker. “We work hard to provide our visitors with a ‘wow’ experience with every visit. Reaching 1 million visitors this year is really just an incredible feeling.”
