A new railway station at Stewartby is being constructed to serve Universal's planned UK theme park in Bedfordshire.
In a statement, the Department for Transport said the new station will "ensure vital connectivity for the multibillion-pound attraction".
It added that Universal's new park will contribute nearly £50 billion to the economy by 2055 and expected to welcome more than 8.5 million visitors in its opening year.
New station to "ensure vital connectivity"
The station in Stewartby will be part of the Marston Vale Line, which currently has nine stations. These are being consolidated into four modern, larger stations.
"We now plan to deliver more passenger rail services, up to a maximum of five trains per hour during peak times, to help cater for people wanting to travel to Universal Studios theme park," East West Rail said in a separate statement.
"This is an increase on the three trains per hour previously planned."

A spokesperson for Universal Destinations and Experiences (UDX) said the "government's commitment in furthering multi-modal opportunities to grow the UK's economy is highly encouraging, as companies like UDX look to place major investments in the UK".
Universal submitted a planning application for its new resort in Bedfordshire in June after a multibillion-pound deal was agreed for the destination.
The company is targeting a 2031 opening for the park, as confirmed in September by Mark Woodbury, chairman and CEO of Universal Destinations & Experiences.

On the park's design, Woodbury added: "It's a full-blown Universal theme park with a 500-room hotel that is part of it, very much like Epic in terms of a park with a hotel.
"We've created a different mix of attractions that we think will work great in the UK."
Planning documents have revealed that the planned UK theme park could feature the tallest rides in Europe.
