Soak City will also feature new waterslides for children

Kings Island is adding Ohio’s first dual-racing water coaster, called RiverRacers, to the Soak City water park in 2025.

In addition to RiverRacers, Soak City will feature seven new waterslides for children in the new Salamander Sliders play area, which is part of the Splash River Junction area.

“Whether you’re a new waterslide rider or an experienced thrill-seeker, Soak City offers the largest outdoor water park experience in Ohio,” said Mike Koontz, vice president and general manager of Kings Island.

“Our  park guests have wanted the thrills of a water coaster for a long time, and you can never go wrong adding new experiences for kids and families to cool off together, especially in Soak City.”

On RiverRacers, guests board side-by-side rafts at the starting line before launching down the first drop at speeds of up to 30 miles per hour. Riders are propelled upwards by water jets, then enter enclosed tunnels with special lighting effects.

After racing through more twists and turns, riders enjoy a gravity-defying final drop and find out who crosses the finish line first.

As for Salamander Sliders at Soak City, this includes seven new waterslides, as well as Bluegill Lagoon – a reimagined old-fashioned swimming hole with a water tower.

Kings Island is home to more than 100 rides, shows and attractions, including 16 coasters, one of which is the world’s longest wooden coaster (The Beast). Banshee is the world’s longest inverted steel coaster.

The park is now owned and operated by Six Flags Entertainment Corporation after Cedar Fair’s merger with Six Flags was completed last month.

The combined company is valued at around $8 billion including debt.

Elsewhere, Kings Dominion in central Virginia is to open Rapterra, the world’s tallest and longest launched wing coaster, in 2025.
