Victoria-based construction and development firm Pellicano and publican family Zagame have announced plans for Zagame’s Wild Water Park, an all-weather, year-round waterpark in Dingley Village, SE Melbourne.

The A$100 project, named Zagame’s Wild Water Park, will include the largest indoor waterpark in the southern hemisphere, comprising 18,200sqm of indoor and 20,000sqm of outdoor water attractions.

These will include a 180-degree semi-circular stand-up surf pool, a tunnel wave ski-slide with video controls, and an indoor-outdoor “lazy river”, all firsts for Australia, plus nine food and beverage outlets for Zagame’s leading food and beverage offerings.

The creators are working with leading Vancouver water park company WhiteWater West, who will oversee construction and installation, and whose innovative technology and design will be showcased at the park.

WhiteWater West’s James Corbett commented: “WhiteWater West has been working closely with the Zagame’s and Pellicano team to make their vision for the park a reality with the help of Peddle Thorpe Architects and Master Planners Pico Play.”

The park is planned to be a showpiece for water technology; engineering students from universities will be able to attend guided tours of the water management technology, to be given an insight into environmentally sustainable design.

It is estimated that the project will create 1,200 new full-time jobs within Dingley Village and the wider City of Kingston.

Previously, Pellicano and Zagame collaborated on the regeneration of Paradise Resort on the Gold Coast.

The Zagame’s Wild Water Park project is still in its early stages; according to City of Kingston mayor, Georgina Oxley, via The Urban Developer, a permit has yet to be issued, and the fact that the area or the proposed park impinges on a ‘green wedge’ zone typically for agricultural use will have to be taken into account. Once approval has been obtained, the waterpark could be completed by late 2021.
