Wavegarden, a leading manufacturer of artificial wave-generating systems, has announced that twice world surf champion Filipe Toledo has signed an ambassador partnership with Beyond The Club in São Paulo. This project will feature the third Wavegarden Cove in Brazil, and is set to open in early 2025.

The extraordinary sports and lifestyle club is presently under development and will extend to over 100,000 square metres. It is located 15 minutes from Faria Lima, next to the renowned Transamerica Bridge, and near São Paulo’s city centre.

Beyond The Club will include a 62-module Wavegarden Cove, the largest and most powerful on the planet. This will be accompanied by a sandy beach with a wide range of sports, recreation, social, and cultural facilities.

With this exclusive partnership, Toledo is positioned as a spokesperson for the company and the surfing industry. His ambassadorship will seek to improve the entire experience for visitors, who will be able to enjoy events and surf coaching programmes provided by the surfing icon.

The current world WSL #1, Toledo has been enthralling global audiences with his exceptional surfing ability for 10 years. He performs key manoeuvres with speed, accuracy, and style. Toledo is recognised by peers and the surfing community as a role model for present and future generations, both in Brazil and globally, for both his athletic ability and as a sports personality.

Toledo first connected with Wavegarden in 2014, when he surfed one of the firm’s initial prototypes in the Basque Country. From 2018 to 2020, he returned to train for the European section of the world pro tour. At Bells Beach in Australia, Toledo used the Wavegarden Cove facility at URBNSURF Melbourne to train and test boards on days when the surf was flat.

“This is a visionary project, and I am proud to be a part of it. I never really imagined that technology would evolve to this level in my lifetime. But it has, and it is even being done in a sustainable way, which is great to know,” comments Toledo.

The partnership was spearheaded by Oscar Segalls and his team at KSM Realty, the development firm that created Brazil’s first inland surfing destination and tropical beach Praia da Grama.

Segalls, CEO at KSM Realty, says: “Beyond the Club is a unique project, different from traditional options and different from anything that presently exists. Filipe is the epitome of what this project is about. It’s about surfing, lifestyle, fun, and family values. We are all very happy to have him on our team and look forward to a long and meaningful relationship.”

Wavegarden recently celebrated the launch of Surfland Brasil in Garopaba, which features its second Wavegarden Cove surfing lagoon in Brazil and seventh globally. The facility offers the largest Wave Menu in the world.
