Halloween experiences are being enhanced across the attractions industry

The Bronx Zoo in New York is expanding its Halloween event for 2025 with a new pumpkin sculpture garden, a dance party for kids, a bigger candy trail, and more.

Boo at the Zoo is running on weekends from 27 September through 26 October, in addition to Monday, 13 October.

This year’s expanded event will offer new elements, including a pumpkin garden with four giant animal-themed installations, the Boo Dance Party after each costume parade, a larger candy trail with multiple treat stations, and new Halloween-themed lawn games.

Additionally, guests will enjoy costume parades, face painting, Halloween crafts, mind-reading and magic shows, and animal-themed storytelling, and more.

Highlights include a themed seasonal maze, pumpkin carving demonstrations, a digital scavenger hunt, a creepy crawly mystery wall, and an extinct animal graveyard.

Guests will also get to experience the zoo’s new exhibit, World of Darkness, which reopened in July after a 16-year hiatus.

World of Darkness houses 25 nocturnal species, including sloths, pygmy slow loris, broad-snouted caiman, aye-aye, sand cats, naked mole rats and vampire bats.

Spooky season growth in attractions industry

Located on 265 acres of hardwood forest, the Bronx Zoo opened in November 1899. It’s home to more than 10,000 animals from over 700 species

Halloween events are being expanded across the attractions industry, particularly at theme parks, as operators take advantage of the growth of seasonal experiences.

Speaking to Reuters last year, IAAPA’s chief executive Jakob Wahl said: “We actually see a growth every year in terms of Halloween events, not only North America, but across the world.”
