London Zoo’s iconic Snowdon Aviary is set to be transformed into a new walk-through monkey enclosure, giving visitors a unique and immersive experience with the primates.
The architect for the £7.1 million redesign of the Grade II*-listed building – one the zoo’s 13 listed buildings – will be Foster + Partners
The unique structure, recently added to Historic England’s Heritage at Risk Register, will receive a lavish overhaul and become a new home for Colobus Monkeys.
The Zoological Society of London’s (ZSL) Director David Field said, ’It’s fitting that a structure with such a unique history should be given new life by a world-class firm with such a strong heritage”.
