Zoo Atlanta to Begin $41M Savanna Expansion Project

News

Permits have been filed by The City of Atlanta to start work on the Grand New View project at Zoo Atlanta.

The $41M development will reinvigorate the old Cyclorama building.  It will be, according to the zoo, “revitalised and reborn as a one-of-a-kind event destination overlooking the wonders of an all-new African savanna. African elephants will roam (in) a new and significantly expanded habitat.”

In fact Two separate permits were filed. The first was for the development of the land to create the savanna expansion. This also covers the development of the elephant barn. The second was a demolition permit to bring down some of the old animal enclosures.
