The Eden Project has teamed up with PlayStation to create a 12-acre wildflower habitat in Morecambe, ahead of the launch of Eden Project North and Sony’s video game Horizon Forbidden West.
The partnership aims to highlight the importance of the UK’s crucial wildflower habitats. Developed by Guerrilla Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Horizon Forbidden West drops on February 18.
The action adventure game for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 is the sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn. Players can explore distant lands and fight machines in the game’s far-future, post-apocalyptic world.
Drawing on the beauty of the natural world depicted in Horizon Forbidden West, the partnership involves the creation of a 12-acre wildflower habitat in Morecambe, Lancashire, which will be sown in March 2022.

The wildflower habitat, created through the Eden Project’s National Wildflower Centre (NWC) in Liverpool will support local wildlife and aid biodiversity.
Morecambe was selected as the location as it will be home to Eden Project North, which was granted planning permission in January 2022 and is due to open in 2024. Eden Project North will reimagine Morecambe a seaside resort for the 21st century.
“We are delighted to be working with PlayStation to create new wildflower habitats in Morecambe,” said David Harland, CEO Eden Project International.
“In supporting these new nature spaces this project further underlines our commitment to the town and our desire to make a lasting transformation to the residents of Morecambe and the place they live.”
The Eden Project recently announced plans to plant wildflower meadows across Dundee as part of its commitment to the city in Scotland ahead of the opening of Eden Project Dundee in 2024.
To launch the partnership, PlayStation and the Eden Project have lit up the iconic Eden Project Biomes in Cornwall, UK.
