Manchester City plans expanded fan experiences and museum

The football club is considering an expanded and covered ‘City Square’ fan zone.

Manchester City F.C. is considering expanding the Etihad Stadium to offer a fan experience and entertainment and leisure destination.

The club, which is now undertaking feasibility studies, will invite fans and the local community to share their priorities and feedback on the concepts in early 2023.

Manchester City is exploring options to expand the North Stand, which would increase the capacity of the Etihad Stadium to more than 60,000.

Additionally, the club is planning an expanded and covered 'City Square' fan zone, home to food and drink outlets, a new club shop and museum, and an onsite hotel.

Per a news release, a key component of the feasibility studies is exploring options to introduce new entertainment experiences on matchday and non-matchday.

Manchester City said the project is "building on the club’s ongoing commitment to invest in and develop its facilities for the benefit of its fans and visitors".

Since 2008, City Football Group has overseen investments of more than £700 million into the Etihad Campus and East Manchester.

New entertainment experiences

AY-PE,an AV, digital software and multimedia design studiofor museums, heritage sites and attractions, has been chosen to work on the Rangers Football Club Museum.

Elsewhere, Dubai Parks and Resortsis launching the world’s first Real Madrid theme park, featuring football-themed rides, attractions and experiences.

The football club has signed an exclusive partnership withDubai Holding Entertainment to open the new park in late 2023.
