Mather & Co, a leading visitor attraction and exhibition design consultancy, has collaborated with ITV to create an engaging new Coronation Street Experience at the Trafford Wharf, which opened to the public on 10 June 2023.
Paul Lee, design director at Mather & Co says: “Working with ITV again is a great honour, as Mather & Co has developed a strong relationship with the renowned brand since the 2014 tour. We are delighted to have had the opportunity to create such an exceptional experience for this acclaimed TV show.”
An authentic experience
Mather & Co. transformed the visitor centre into the ideal haven for devoted Coronation Street viewers, thanks to its creative set design and graphic abilities. Fans are invited to explore iconic replica sets of Rovers and Roy’s Rolls, view real costumes and marvel at historical props. They can also experience classic scenes in a special movie room.
ITV’s James Penfold says: “The new experience finds its home in a state-of-the-art, purpose-built media building spanning an impressive 16,500 square feet. Located within the northeast corner of the Production Lot, this remarkable structure features the exhibition, a 64-seater cinema auditorium, a retail area, and a cafe.”
With authentic props and outfits that have made their mark on television history, The Coronation Street Experience offers a deep exploration of the show’s rich past. Visitors can expect painstakingly recreated interior sets, allowing them to enter Roy’s Rolls for the first time or step behind the bar in the fabled Rovers Return. The attention to detail means that visitors will be immersed in the true spirit of the much-loved TV show.
