Rovio Angry Birds Live The Slingshot Adventure

Rovio Entertainment Corporation, a Finnish mobile-first gaming company and creator of the Angry Birds brand, has announced plans for a new touring interactive theatrical production, working with Kilburn Live, a leader in branded live family entertainment.

Angry Birds Live: The Slingshot Adventure will be North America’s first-ever interactive touring Angry Birds stage performance. The show, facilitated by Angry Birds’ global licencing agency IMG, will feature popular characters from the movies, including Red, Silver, and Leonard, as they embark on a funny misadventure in a new world rich with challenging situations.

Pushing boundaries

With famous gameplay features integrated into the live production, audiences of all ages will be able to help decide the outcome of the show in a one-of-a-kind experience.

“Angry Birds Live: The Slingshot Adventure is a landmark production and interactive theatrical experience that allows the audience to participate and impact the outcome of the story in a way that has never been done before,” says Kilburn Live CEO Mark Manuel. “We are going to once again push the boundaries of live entertainment and allow the audience to catapult objects onto the stage during the performance that will impact the outcome of the show. It’s going to be a lot of fun,” he added.

Audience-shaped narrative

Rovio Entertainment’s senior director of brand licensing Hanna Valkeapää-Nokkala adds: “Angry Birds is a beloved brand, and our over 5 billion downloads are a testament to that.”

“We always want to give fans and audiences new ways to experience and interact with the brand, and Angry Birds Live: The Slingshot Adventure is a completely new, innovative and exciting way of doing that! We are thrilled to be working with Kilburn Live on this first-ever audience interactive experience and look forward to seeing how audiences shape the story of Red and his companions.”

Kilburn and Rovio enlisted the help of veteran Hollywood screenwriters James Johnston and Bennet Yellin to create a unique, hilarious adventure for the entire family. The duo have a long list of theatrical hits to their name, including comedy hits such as Dumb and Dumber and Stuck on You.

Angry Birds Live: The Slingshot Adventure will commence its tour in North America next year.

Rovio has also recently been celebrating the successful launch of its collaboration with Topgolf, rolling out an interactive golf experience in select US venues.
