Somerset's Brean Theme Park to reopen for summer 2026 season

Despite financial challenges, the park will operate this year

Brean Theme Park in Somerset, England, has confirmed that it will reopen for the summer 2026 season despite previous reports that it was due to close.

Earlier this month, the theme park made the announcement that it had gone into liquidation and ceased trading.

Citing "significant financial challenges" and dwindling attendance following the Covid-19 pandemic, the park appointed liquidator Hazlewoods.

In a newly released statement shared by Brean Theme Park on their website and Instagram account, general manager Peter Mainwaring confirmed that the park will reopen at Easter.

The statement reads: "We are working hard behind the scenes and will reopen for the 2026 Summer Season from Easter.

"Although the group structure has changed, our loyal visitors will still enjoy the same park, the same team, and the same great day out.

"For clarity, Brean Theme Park is not owned by Unity Holidays. We operate as a fully independent business and lease land from them. We look forward to continuing to work together.

"Preparations are underway and we can’t wait to welcome you back very soon!"

First opening in the 1940s, the Burnham-on-Sea holiday resort houses more than 40 rides and attractions, and opens seasonally from March to October.

Following the liquidation announcement, Nicholas Stafford, from liquidator Hazlewoods, shared a statement via the BBC.

Park confirms Easter reopening after liquidation fears

He said: "The company traded throughout the peak summer season of 2025, however revenue generated over that time was insufficient to enable the company to sustain operations through the park's usual winter closure."

He added that the site was affected because a nearby holiday park was being used to house Hinkley Point C workers rather than visitors.

A spokesperson for Hinkley Point C said (via ITV News): "We are sorry to hear of the financial difficulties faced by the theme park, we know it has been a challenging time for tourism businesses across the South West."
