Integrated theatrical and architectural lighting for theme parks, attractions and immersive destinations

SPRK Lighting combines theatrical and architectural lighting design with the technical expertise required to take projects from initial ideas through installation and long-term operation. Working across theme parks, attractions and immersive destinations, SPRK brings creative and technical specialists together to design, procure, install, program and support lighting systems.
Rather than separating creative lighting design from technical delivery, the company develops both as part of a connected process. Its team includes professionals with backgrounds in Disney Live Entertainment, Walt Disney Imagineering, controls engineering and attraction development, bringing experience in both storytelling and the practical requirements of operating complex visitor attractions.

SPRK's integrated approach follows four stages: Ideate, Design, Activate and Sustain. This takes projects from early strategy and creative development through detailed design, procurement, installation, commissioning and programming, with ongoing support for operational attractions.
The model is designed to minimise the gaps that can occur when creative concepts pass between separate designers, suppliers and installation teams. Lighting solutions can therefore be developed with installation, programming, maintenance and the realities of the operating environment considered from the outset.
SPRK's capabilities include design, equipment procurement, installation, focusing and programming. The company works on new developments as well as existing attractions where lighting can refresh the experience, support new uses or extend how a space operates after dark.

SPRK's portfolio demonstrates how this approach can be applied across rides, themed environments, seasonal events and large-scale installations.
For LEGOLAND Shanghai Resort's MINILAND, SPRK worked with Merlin Entertainments and LEGO's creative team to design and install a dynamic lighting environment for the expansive miniature attraction. The scheme incorporates changing day and night conditions to support the storytelling of its detailed LEGO landscapes. LEGOLAND Shanghai Resort received a 2026 Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement.
Other projects include Fire in the Hole and Pumpkin Nights at Silver Dollar City, Big Bear Mountain and Great Pumpkin LumiNights at Dollywood, Top of the Rock Lost Canyon Trail and Gideon's Bakehouse at Disney Springs. At Dollywood's Great Pumpkin LumiNights, SPRK developed a weather-rated system designed around the practical requirements of installing and removing seasonal elements each year, alongside the park's first park-wide lighting control system.

SPRK also considers how lighting can influence the way attractions and spaces are used. At Moonshine Mountain Coaster in Gatlinburg, the team used existing power and network infrastructure to introduce a new lighting system and create an evening experience for a period that had previously attracted fewer riders.
Its work extends beyond traditional theme park environments. Projects such as the Three Sisters Bridges installation in Pittsburgh combine architectural lighting, art, technology and storytelling, while Gideon's Bakehouse at Disney Springs demonstrates the role lighting can play in creating a highly themed retail environment.
SPRK's involvement can continue beyond design and installation, bringing creative direction, technical delivery and ongoing support together within one team.
