Joe Herrington was born and grew up in the cattle country and oil fields of West Texas. He served in the U.S. Army as a drill instructor at Fort Knox, KY, then as a platoon sergeant in Korea until 1969. Returning to civilian life, he directed commercials, news, and local programming for KMID-TV in Odessa/Midland, Texas.
In 1973 he became the production director for the Reuben Fleet Space Center in San Diego, California, writing and producing all public programming. Late in his eighth year with Fleet, he was discovered and asked to come to Walt Disney Imagineering to head up a sound effects department and produce soundtracks for all of Disney’s theme park attractions. During his time with Disney, he also became a novelist and Western storyteller traveling internationally telling stories of the American West. Joe is now in his 43rd year with Walt Disney Imagineering as an Audio Media Designer.
