An Ecotourism/Archaeotourism specialist based in Sharjah, UAE, Ajmal Hasan established and manages the education team at Mleiha Archaeological Centre.
The Mleiha Archaeological and Ecotourism Park was developed by developed by the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq). A visitor centre and exhibition space based around the history and archaeology of the areas surrounding the village of Mleiha, it is built around a preserved Umm Al Nar era tomb. The centre, which opened in 2016, showcases the excavations and discoveries made over the past 40 years in Mleiha and the surrounding area.
Hasan was asked to set up the education department in 2015. He started with 5 staff members and now has 20. He maintains the exceptionally strong quality and customer service standards that Mleiha meets, leading it to be recognised as both the #1 destination of “Things to Do in Sharjah” and the #1 position for “Top Museums in Sharjah” on TripAdvisor.
As an Educator Hasan takes visitors on guided museum tours, archaeological visits, adventure tours, hiking/trekking and nature walks. He also regularly provide lectures to schools, educational institutions, adventure groups and natural history groups on Wildlife Conservation.
Hasan also heads up operations at a nearby state-of-the-art butterfly house/nature park. A member of the Dubai Natural History Group, he is a dedicated naturalist, museum educator and wildlife photographer
