Shawn McCoy is a vice president at leading museum and attractions design firm JRA in Cincinnati, Ohio.
For over 25 years he has transitioned JRA’s museum, theme park, and brand clients from kickoff through the initial planning and design phase, ensuring that they enjoy a smooth working relationship with the company’s designers, writers and producers.
He specialises in planning, designing and realising museums and branded experiences with his colleagues at JRA and provides overall creative strategy, content development, writing, marketing and business development. He has expertise in trends, intellectual property, location based entertainment, branded attractions, emerging technologies and immersive storytelling.
McCoy takes an active role from early brainstorming meetings to opening day, and has imprinted his creativity on award-winning museum and interpretive projects around the world. These include the SUE Exhibit at the Field Museum, the National Comedy Center (named Best New Museum 2020 by USA TODAY), Space Center Houston, the Toyota Visitor Experience and many more.
In addition to his work at JRA, McCoy is recognised as an expert in global trends in the attractions and museum sector. He has also made a significant contribution to the museum industry through his committee work, published articles, and conference presentations.
