Balloon Museum has already been in Rome, Paris, Milan and Madrid

The Balloon Museum is making its US debut with a new exhibition called Let’s Fly at Pier 36 in New York City from next month.

Running from 27 October through 14 January, the pop-up attraction is home to inflatable installations created by 13 international artists and studios such as Sasha Frolova, Cyril Lancelin, OUCHHH, Camila Falsin.

Let’s Fly is taking over Pier 36’s 80,000-square-foot venue, where visitors will be immersed in a world of contemporary art designed to be touched and moved.

The exhibition will showcase artworks that explore the lightness and flight of air, contrasted with themes of heaviness, darkness and gravity.

More than 2.5 million people across the world have already visited the Balloon Museum during its pop-up runs in Rome, Paris, Milan and Madrid.

“We have had the honor to collaborate with brilliant and innovative leading artists from across the globe to design this massive exhibition, and look forward to bringing New York on the journey of completely immersive, living, breathing art,” said Roberto Fantauzzi, president of Lux Holding.

The museum will display immersive installations from European runs including reimagined offerings from Karina Smigla-Bobinski, ENESS, Rub Kandy and Quiet Ensemble.

Inflatable installations at Pier 36

Experiences for Let’s Fly include an inflatable version of a labyrinth by Cyril Lancelin titled Flying Maze, mirrored balloons in a mirrored room by Tadao Cern titled BB, and an inflatable lava lamp by Michael Shaw.

Highlights also include a pool filled with black balls (Hypercosmo by Hyperstudio) and a large kinetic installation (ZEROS by SpY Studio).

Earlier this year, Meow Wolf’s fourth permanent exhibition, The Real Unreal, opened in Grapevine, Texas.
