Eureka! Science + Discovery, a new £11.4 million science museum in Wirral, Merseyside, is opening to the public on 11 November.
The visitor attraction is a place for children to explore science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) through interactive activities.
Opening in Wallasey, one of the most deprived areas in the UK, Eureka! will welcome around 180,000 visitors every year. It is expected to contribute £12 million to the local economy by 2032.
It follows the success of Eureka! The National Children’s Museum, an interactive educational museum for children in Halifax, West Yorkshire.

Leigh-Anne Stradeski, CEO of Eureka!, said the team “has long held an ambition to open a second attraction to engage with a wider audience in the North West”.
The museum “will not only positively impact the local economy but also influence the aspirations of the local children and young people by opening their eyes to the multitude of opportunities for further studies and careers available to them”, she said.
To develop the visitor experience at the new venue, Eureka! collaborated with around 200 children and young people from local schools and youth centres.
Eureka! Science + Discovery is home to interactive activities and learning experiences, including zones exploring our bodies, homes and nature.
The new location also has a space called ‘Make Create’. Opening in 2023 are the Discovery Café and a dedicated exhibition area for younger guests.
“Our area has established itself as an international tourist destination for a reason: because we offer our visitors an experience unlike anywhere else in the country,” said Mayor of the Liverpool City Region, Steve Rotheram.
“Eureka!’s arrival will bring another fascinating new addition to our offer,” he added.
Rotheram said the new Eureka! will introduce young people in the region to “topics like life sciences, digital innovation and green technology in a fun and refreshing way”.
