Holman, a leader in designing, fabricating and installing exhibits, branded experiences and more for the attractions industry, has announced that it was part of the team working on the restoration of the iconic Massey Hall in Toronto, Canada.
The company, which was established in 1964, is a one-stop-shop for the custom design, fabrication and installation of engaging museum and cultural exhibits, as well as trade show programmes, branded experiences, retail environments and displays, and world-class attractions.
Revitalising a key landmark
Massey Hall is a performing arts theatre in the Garden District of downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada, first built in 1894 and designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1981.
Holman contributed to the revitalisation of this Toronto landmark through its work in designing and fabricating displays and display cases, holding important artefacts. Through this project, Holman helped Massey Hall to continue to share the stories that are important to the venue’s heritage.
“It was such a privilege to be able to partner with The Massey Hall Corporation and our design partners Reich & Petch on this historical project,” says a statement from the company. “We were able to pull from our museum fabrication knowledge and our passion for the performance arts and help Massey Hall shine even brighter as a Canadian gem”
A previous museum project for Holman was the Emperor’s Jewels exhibit at the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto, where it produced the gallery walls, Islamic inspired arches and display cases, showcasing artefacts from Kuwait’s al-Sabah Collection, the largest collection of Islamic artwork in the world.
The company also worked on Out of the Depths: The Blue Whale Story at Royal Ontario Museum, where it was asked to create a strong design story. Here, Holman designed, fabricated and installed everything for the 5,00 square foot exhibit, including display cases, interactive features and an 80-foot skeleton of a blue whale.
