Holovis, a leading experience designer, has announced the unveiling of the final superhero to join the Justice League: A Call for Heroes experience at Madame Tussauds. Cyborg is the latest attraction in the walk-through, interactive experience.
Visitors at Madame Tussauds Orlando and Sydney have been enjoying the Justice League: Call for Heroes attraction, which lets them star in the experience alongside models of their favourite superheroes. Guests can interact with the wax figures, bringing their powers to life. This is done through an innovative combination of projection mapping, enhanced audio and SFX. Cyborg has now been added to the Orlando attraction. Holovis has delivered the AV, show lighting and interactive elements for this latest superhero attraction.
Holovis worked closely with Merlin Magic Making and theming company Daniel’s Wood Land on the project. Merlin Magic Making is the creative division of Merlin Entertainments, parent company to Madame Tussauds. Visitors can trigger the Cyborg sequence by hunting for the hidden code and entering it into the keypad. Upon input of the right code, a musical score builds, and lights flicker in the electronics store behind Cyborg. To add to the experience, smoke and steam appear out of the building vents and a hologram is projected onto the wall. This shows the location of Lux Luther’s evil device.
An interactive superhero experience
Jon Tozer, experience designer at Holovis explained: “We wanted to keep the triggers for these immersive sequences as natural and intuitive as possible so that when the combinations of media, audio, lighting and SFX surround the guests it feels like real magic. In the case of Cyborg, guests go on a quest to find the code and locate the keypad.”
James Paulding, general manager of Madame Tussauds Orlando commented, “We are ecstatic that the Justice League: A Call for Heroes experience now unites the entire DC Super Hero cast! With the two new heroes, guests will become totally immersed in the epic saga as they race alongside the Flash, harness Cyborg’s power of technology and join the rest of the Justice League to save the world.”
Holovis also worked on the creation of The Flash waxwork, which joined the experience at Madame Tussauds Sydney in July 2018. Tozer explains, “for the other characters in the experience including The Flash, who is also new to Orlando, we’re using tracked gesture-based interactivity, with the triggers being poses that guests naturally want to do when being photographed with these heroes. For example, for The Flash, this is running on the spot next to him and for Wonder Woman it’s striking her iconic pose alongside her.”
Holovis also created the technology behind the Aquaman waxwork which joined the Orlando experience in December 2018.
