The International Museum Construction Congress (IMCC), an event that brings together museum and architecture professionals to explore sustainability, planning, project management, construction, renovation and expansion of museums, has opened early bird registration for IMCC Copenhagen 2025.
The theme for IMCC Copenhagen 2025 focuses on Storytelling in Museum Design. To create a distinctive and cohesive museum experience, a collaborative effort among architects, museum professionals, and exhibition designers is essential from the outset of the project. Engaging in teamwork early allows these three parties to ensure that storytelling informs the design process, effectively merging architecture, exhibition design, and visitor experience.
IMCC Copenhagen 2025 will provide attendees with 16 sessions, exclusive access to some of the best cultural institutions in Copenhagen, an architecture cruise, a tour, session and reception at BIG’s Copenhagen Studio, pre-congress behind-the-scenes field trips and seven hours of dedicated networking opportunities.
Early bird rate and pre-conference tours
IMCC has also announced a new registration rate available for Institutions. Attendees must register with their institution email address to receive the special rate. The early bird registration rates are available till 1 July. The rate includes a special IMCC giveaway, all congress plenary sessions, one lunch, three evening receptions and an architecture cruise.
Additionally, several pre-congress field trips are scheduled for 1 November, and places can be reserved during registration.
Due to capacity requirements and to ensure attendees have a positive networking experience, attendance will be limited to 250 people.
A valuable experience
Fionnuala Croke, director and chief executive of the Chester Beatty Museum, says:
“I attended the IMCC meeting for the first time in Edinburgh in 2024. It was a terrific opportunity to learn and network. I met with fellow museum professionals, as well as specialists working with museums. For any museum, facing into a capital project can be daunting, and I came away feeling energised and reassured by the presentations, and particularly by the many informal chats with colleagues”.
Brian O’Donnell, deputy director, National Library of Ireland, says:
“As the Head of Estates, a client planning and managing a large capital development exhibition project, I have found the content and discussions at the International Museum Leadership Congress (IMCC) in recent years to be particularly relevant and thought-provoking.
“It keeps me in touch with the latest thinking in the constantly emerging field, with in-depth presentations by building design teams, exhibition interpretative designers and clients. All sharing their knowledge and learnings on project red flags, sustainability, and storytelling, among other themes.
“The conference format is filled with the latest case studies and networking opportunities to facilitate one-to-one engagement on areas of particular interest.”
Alex Grosjean, Landmark PM, adds: “IMCC for me was an opportunity to step out from working in the projects, to on the projects. It was a place of knowledge share, lessons learned, networking opportunities, and just an overall wonderfully invigorating event that anyone in our field working on a capital museum project should attend!”
