Luci Creative, a full-service experiential design studio and creator of dynamic experiences for civic, cultural, and corporate organizations, has been selected to be the exclusive exhibition design partner for the new Adams Presidential Center to be based in Quincy, Massachusetts, US.

As a developer of award-winning interactive exhibitions and spaces, Luci Creative has distinguished itself as a service provider that connects visitors with the mission and purpose of historical and cultural organizations.

The upcoming Adams Presidential Center (APC) has been conceived to celebrate the lives and public service of second US president John Adams, family members Abigail Adams, John Quincy Adams, and Louisa Catherine Adams, and their stories. Described as a ‘coming-of-age tale’ of the United States of America and its Constitution, John and Abigail helped define late 18th-century constitutional theory, whilst John Quincy and Louisa Catherine helped to transform this theory into a working political system in the early 19th.

A team of history enthusiasts

By engaging visitors in this history, The APC will invite and engage visitors in the country’s history, whilst enabling them to consider how the political system can be reshaped for modern-day America.

Luci Creative CEO and principal AJ Goehle says: “We are humbled and honoured to be chosen as a creative partner for such a significant project for the city of Quincy and the United States. By bringing to life the story of John Adams and his family’s role in the great American experiment, we have an opportunity to connect history to actions, and can inspire the practice of active citizenship.”

Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch says: “We were immediately drawn to the Luci Creative team by its passion, experience, and creativity in telling the Adams story in a way that will preserve the family’s extraordinarily important legacy while at the same time make it come alive for future generations.

“Luci Creative was selected from among more than thirty firms that sought to partner with us, and we are thrilled to be working together on this truly historic endeavour.”

City of culture

The opportunity of a major presidential centre was first explored by Koch in 2020, recognising the prospects of his city housing the long-existing historical assets of the Adamses’ birthplaces, long-time family home and resting places.

The continuing economic development of Downtown Quincy relies heavily on its heritage, with the Hancock-Adams Common being opened in 2018, a monument-scale public space honouring the contributions of John Adams and John Hancock. A statue of Abigail will be unveiled in the park later this year, with a John Quincy Adams monument also planned.

“There has not been a family that has contributed more to the idea of America and its early development than the Adamses, and what better place to tell that story and make it relevant to today than right here in their hometown, which John Adams always referred to as ‘that remarkable spot’,” adds Koch.

US leaders have a major impact on culture in modern America. The new Center turns to history for role models that demonstrate principled action and selfless public service. Our leaders from yesterday had a significant influence on education, women’s rights, and more. Today, politicians continue to have a significant influence on topics such as sustainability and cultural investments.
