Displays celebrate the cultural impact of the international multi-sport event

Mather & Co, a leading visitor attraction and exhibition design consultancy, has been appointed to celebrate the ten-year anniversary of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, with a brand new exhibition installation in the capital.

The company will manage the exhibition’s configuration and layout, including the design of new display elements for objects and bringing stories to the fore. Mather & Co will work with Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park’s marketing team to produce on-brand graphic content.

Hanna Lorenz, a Junior 3D Designer at Mather & Co says: “The exhibition will be a really exciting culmination of sporting, cultural and social legacy, all that exist within Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and Lee Valley Regional Park Authority.

“[The exhibition strives to] showcase to visitors the innovative and inspiring work individuals and communities do, reminiscing on the success of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.”

Keeping the legacy alive

The new attraction will be installed within the Lee Valley VeloPark’s Velodrome building. The venue is found within the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, a legacy of the Olympic Games which a decade later still attracts over 6 million visitors per year.

Nathan Homer, Chief Commercial Officer at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park says “It is great to work with Mather & Co on this important exhibition marking the Park’s tenth anniversary. There is so much to celebrate and to look forward and the Mather & Co team have captured that perfectly.”

Wider impact

The exhibition is designed to look further than the successes of Team GB and ParalympicsGB which granted the national teams third place in both the respective events. The site has continued to deliver benefits to the capital’s residents, and as such many exhibits will explore the legacy that London 2012 created and the future of the Park with its surrounding area.

Lee Valley Regional Park Authority’s head of communications Stephen Bromberg adds: “We are delighted to host this exhibition which charts the history and evolving legacy of the Games. Lee Valley VeloPark is the perfect location to reflect back on the incredible changes and also what’s to come.”

The exhibition will open to the public on 11 April 2022. Guests are encouraged to share their experiences on social media with the hashtag #passthebaton.

In October, Mather & Co celebrated the opening of W5 Science Centre in Belfast, Northern Ireland, featuring eight new interactive zones at the world-class science and discovery hub.
