Moment Factory, the multimedia entertainment studio specialising in the conception and production of immersive environments, has created a new night-time multimedia experience for Village Québécois d'Antan, a living museum in Quebec, Canada.

Village Québécois d'Antan, established in 1977, is a popular tourist destination featuring a reconstructed hamlet with 70 historic buildings which provides an authentic experience of French-speaking Quebec from 1810 to 1930. It offers group activities and event spaces, as well as retail and dining options. The attraction also runs themed events such as the Summer Village, Sugar Village, and Haunted Village.

For this new type of complementary offer, Moment Factory created the “Village Parrallèle”, a night-time experience which encourages visitors to explore the cultural site in the evening with a playful twist.

Francois Morel, producer, Moment Factory, says: “Village Parallèle exemplifies Moment Factory’s commitment to enhancing heritage tourism experiences by merging historical authenticity with cutting-edge immersive technology. This project, our latest collaboration with the Village Québécois d’Antan, highlights our ability to deliver comprehensive solutions—from ideation to production—that enhance visitor engagement and drive tourism traffic.

"By transforming the Village into a nighttime attraction, we aim to attract a new demographic of visitors, offering a complimentary experience that builds on the VQA’s traditional activities while introducing something fresh and quirky. Our expertise in multimedia integration in sensitive heritage contexts ensures that each installation not only entertains but also enriches the cultural significance of this patrimonial site, offering a unique and engaging experience for all visitors.”

A contemporary counterpoint

“Village Parrallèle” is the second collaboration betweenMoment Factory andthe living museum. The first phasesought to provide creative and innovative solutions to the Village while maintaining its authenticityand existing daytime offer. Since the beginning of this collaboration, attendance at the Village Québécois d'Antan has increased by 34%.

In this second project, Moment Factory hascreated a multimedia experience that brings the location to life as darkness falls.

The firm's creative approach to this project mergesinnovative technology with the museum's existing structures. This is combined withan original story to create an immersive experience which is closely tied to the history and cultural importance of the Village Québécois d'Antan. Light installations, video projections, scenographic elements and unique soundscapes offer a surprising counterpoint to the historicalsetting.

Visitors are invited to spend the evening with friends exploring the village by night, enjoying a drink or meal together as well as both indoor and outdoor activities.

In addition to extending the opening hours of the historical site, the format of “Village Parallèle” is designed to attract a new audience to the touristic site by offering a social and bonding experience for groups of friends and families. Although the attraction is kid and family-friendly during the day, it morphs into a lively, nocturnal destination - making it ideal for younger individuals and groups.

In addition, the project seeks to support the local economy by increasing tourist traffic through the appeal of Moment Factory's immersive technologies.

Earlier this month, Moment Factory announced that it has collaborated with UNICEF USA to create Heart Strings. This interactive walkthrough experience showcases the stories of children around the world in a multimedia journey that harnesses the power of music to transcend borders, cultures, and languages.
