Ninja Museum and Academy to Open in Japan

News
Ninja Museum Japan

Smithsonian.com reports that Japan is set to create a Ninja Museum as part of the ‘Cool Japan’ initiative.

The museum will launch next year in Tokyo together with a Ninja Academy to raise the profile of the iconic warriors and boost tourism.

However, the popular representation of ninjas as stealthy assassins performing elaborate martial arts moves may be shattered by the Ninja Museum.  The Japan Ninja Council, who are behind the creation of the museum, say that the role of the Ninja was more that of a spy who would seek to avoid conflict in order to survive and report back.
