The Asian Art Museum’s new pavilion will host teamLab: Continuity, an immersive experience featuring the digital artworks of international art collective, teamLab.
teamLab: Continuity opens on May 8, 2020 at the Asian Art Museum. It features a series of interactive digital installations at AAM’s new Akiko Yamazaki and Jerry Yang Pavilion.
Continuity is also the inaugural event in the 8,500-square-foot pavilion, the centrepiece of AAM’s five-year expansion project, and the largest new art space in San Francisco.
Abby Chen, head of contemporary art at AAM, said teamLab: Continuity “could not have been exhibited at the museum prior to the construction of the new Akiko Yamazaki and Jerry Yang Pavilion, which was designed to accommodate the technical and spatial demands of contemporary art installations”.

teamLab: Continuity visitors can explore projected environments of vibrant colour and touch-sensitive artworks that constantly change and evolve.
Audiences are invited to draw connections between teamLab’s dazzling worlds and AAM’s artworks in the refurbished collection galleries.
“With its blend of jaw-dropping aesthetics, technological sophistication, and moments of pure delight, teamLab: Continuity is the perfect way for us reintroduce ourselves to our community, our city and the wider world as a destination for inspiration and connection,” said Dr Jay Xu, CEO of AAM.
“What is so exciting about Continuity is that the installations presented here are stitched together so that elements from one piece will be seen flying or swimming into another.”

Xu continued: “This creates the ‘continuity’ of the exhibition’s title: a seamless experience influenced by visitors’ self-defined pathways and limited only by their imaginations – a wonderful reflection of the museum’s own transformed experience across our reimagined galleries, our new dedicated contemporary art spaces, and our expansive, light-filled campus.”
Sands Resorts Macao recently announced the opening date of teamLab SuperNature Macao, which is scheduled to open at the Venetian Macao in March 2020.
teamlab: Continuity will require timed-entry tickets, which will be available for museum members from April 2, 2020, and for the general public from April 3.
