A new 35,000 square foot art park called Wisdome has opened in the Arts District in downtown Los Angeles.

Dubbed the world’s first fully immersive art park, the location includes five fully immersive, 360-degree domes fitted with 10.1 surround sound.

A shared VR experience combines the future of art, entertainment and technology.

The space has a capacity of 1000 people in and around the domes – the largest dome has a capacity of 500. Two of the domes include 360-degree projection mapping. The domes were previously showcased at Burning Man and Coachella.

The domes will host new events – including the return of Pink Floyd saxophonist Scott Page and Think:EXP for another edition of Beyond the Wall from Jan 25-26.

A visual art exhibition called Samskara has been created by digital artist Android Jones. The art park will include over 70 works from Android in 9 different formats. These will include digital canvases, Microdose VR, dynamic sculptures, shows, live performances and a spherical movie theatre.

Android Jones said: “I couldn’t be more thrilled to work with the Wisdome team and bring Samskara to Los Angeles. This city is one of the creative capitals of the worlds and is filled with people looking to learn, try something different, and experience transformation. We have been blown away by the excitement and reaction from everyone so far and have big plans in mind for 2019.”

Samskara will place the viewer inside the art – and give them the chance to see and participate in the process of creation.

Microdose VR, which was co-founded by Android Jones, is a fully customisable platform that combines art, music, and dance into a mind-altering creative VR experience.

Art attractions

The new attraction resembles other art fixtures that have become popular visitor attractions.

Meow Wolf is a group of artists from a variety of disciplines came together just to make art. It ended up becoming, not just a creative powerhouse, but a profitable business.

In August, Meow Wolf announced a partnership with Elitch Garden to open a new art ride called Kaleidoscape in April 2019.
