Shanghai’s World Expo Museum Slated to Open in May

Shanghai’s World Expo Museum is expected to open in May.

The World Expo Museum will be the first of its kind in the world, according to Shanghai Daily.

The 46,000 square metre complex on the former Puxi Shanghai Expo site will house exhibits from past and future World Expos.

The museum is a partnership between the Shanghai government and the Bureau of International Expositions, the governing body responsible for the expos.

It has been created as an official archive centre. BIE will invite expo exhibitors to donate their key exhibits.

Over 200 participants from the 2010 World Expo Shanghai have already given more than 30,000 exhibits.

The building comprises of two areas entitled “River Valley” and “Happy Cloud.”

“River Valley” has five floors and an underground level that will house the main exhibition hall of the museum.

“Happy Cloud” will include rooftop gardens, temporary exhibition halls and public services areas.
