The Wordsworth Grasmere museum in the Lake District of England is expanding its new Gothic exhibition with a monsters-themed programme of events this autumn.
Ghost Story! Into the Gothic Imagination, an immersive exhibition exploring the Gothic literary movement, opened earlier this year and is running through June 2027.
For its autumn events, Wordsworth Grasmere is focusing on the monsters of Gothic horror, exploring novels such as Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and The Last Man.
These events will be on offer throughout October and November, with guests able to explore the property by candlelight, hear spooky tales and enjoy performed readings by actors and historians.

In October, an event for adults called 'After Hours at Dove Cottage: Gothic Monsters' will provide the opportunity to listen to eerie tales in an atmospheric candle-lit setting.
This takes place on 22 and 29 October and includes seasonal cake and hot spiced cordial.
On Halloween itself, the museum will offer a special evening with guided tours, Gothic poetry performances, creative writing and crafting sessions, and seasonal F&B.
For younger guests, 'Twilight Tales in Dove Cottage' will include spooky stories, dressing up, hot chocolate and gingerbread on 21, 26 and 27 October.
Additionally, a six-part series of book clubs is launching in October with Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, followed in November with Wilkie Collins' The Woman in White.
Also in November, the 'After Hours at Dove Cottage: Gothic Hauntings' event will include performed readings from Gothic tales like A Christmas Carol, The Castle of Otranto and Wuthering Heights, as well as traditional Cumbrian ghost stories.
Taking place on 27 November, the experience includes seasonal cake and a glass of hot spiced cordial.
Around the festive season, the museum will offer 'Christmas Spirits!' – a family event of seasonal supernatural tales.
Operated by the Wordsworth Trust charity, Wordsworth Grasmere is the former home of poet William Wordsworth and his sister Dorothy.
