Birmingham’s Bear Grylls Adventure is launching a new Valentine’s Day experience for 2024, with visitors able to throw an axe at their ex’s name or picture.
The ‘axe your ex’ experience allows visitors to take revenge this February. Guests can ‘bury the hatchet’ by writing down their ex’s name on paper or bringing along picture of them. They can then stick the name or image on a target and start chucking their axes.
Lee Phillips, general manager at the Bear Grylls Adventure, said: “Valentine’s Day can be a particularly tricky day of the year for some people, especially those unlucky in love. As such, we wanted to give guests the chance to enjoy an activity a little different to being struck by Cupid’s arrow.

“Guests will be able to release those locked-up feelings and let go of their ex in our axe throwing range, which we’re hoping will be a fun activity for friends to enjoy together – rather than the traditional Valentine’s date night!”
For guests with no resentments, the Bear Grylls attraction is offering a special two-for-one deal on Valentine’s Day on selected activities, including high ropes, archery, climbing and axe-throwing.
This offer will be available to purchase on 14 February and is redeemable for visits between 15 and 18 February. The ‘axe your ex’ activity is available at the Bear Grylls Adventure on Valentine’s Day only.
Bury the hatchet this February
As zoos across the globe encourage guests to name a cockroach after their ex-lover, the Bear Grylls Adventure’s not-so amorous ‘axe your ex’ experience is a new concept for Valentine’s Day.
Elsewhere, Treetop Trekking Miami is launching the ‘Love at First Height’ package for Valentine’s Day this year.
“We’re excited to offer a Valentine’s Day experience that’s as thrilling as it is romantic,” said Jean-François Couture, chief marketing officer at the Trekking Group.
