nWave Pictures, a multinational producer and distributor of immersive 3D/4D content, has revealed plans to tease its new 4D/3D attraction, Theater of Dreams at IAAPA Expo Europe 2023.
The Expo, which is the leading event in Europe for leisure and attractions professionals, is taking place in Vienna, from 25-28 September. nWave will be at booth A-420 on the show floor, where delegates will be able to see a teaser of the new attraction.
The studio has released nine family-friendly feature films, all with striking visual treatments. Its titles include the BIGFOOT franchise (The Son Of Bigfoot and Bigfoot Family), The Queen’s Corgi and Chickenhare and the Hamster of Darkness. nWave also creates 4D/3D attraction films, 3D/2D ride simulation films, and 3D/2D educational documentaries for giant-screen theatres.
Playful daydream scenes
Theater of Dreams is a new addition to the firm’s attraction portfolio and is based on its upcoming feature film The Inseparables, due to be released in theatres later in 2023.
In this new title, viewers will be introduced to the two lead characters from The Inseparables. Don is a wooden puppet with a rich imagination and is joined on fantastic adventures by his friend, DJ Doggie Dog – a hugely loyal (yet somewhat cowardly) stuffed toy.
The attraction features stunning CGI animation, which has become a trademark of the nWave studio. In addition, some scenes have a 2D treatment which offers a contrast between the main narrative and Don’s imaginative daydreams.
JĂ©rĂ©mie Degruson, movie director, explains: “Our main challenge was to make the back and forth between reality and fantasy readable and entertaining, to engage the viewer in Don’s fantasies fully. We wanted to playfully treat these daydream scenes like epic and surreal video game levels.”
Theater of Dreams will be screened in full at the IAAPA Expo in Orlando, which is taking place in November.
nWave Pictures debuted The Inseparables in June at France’s Annecy Film Festival, the biggest animation event in the world. The new buddy adventure tale comes from the writers of Toy Story and is a partnership between nWave studios, Octopolis and A Contracorriente.
