Bowling World Games 2017

The international event celebrates popular sports not featured in the Olympics such as ten-pin bowling

QubicaAMF, a leading provider of high-quality, innovative products for bowling and entertainment centres, has announced it will become the official bowling equipment supplier for this year’s The World Games.

The international multi-sport event will feature the world’s first International Bowling Federation (IBF)-sanctioned tournament on string machines, featuring QubicaAMF’s state-of-the-art EDGE Sting Pinspotters.

On the world stage

With The World Games taking place 7-17 July 2022, the bowling portion will play out 8 – 11 July at the Birmingham–Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC) in Alabama, US. Traditionally held in the year following the Summer Olympic Games, the event embodies the highest competition level for over 3,600 international athletes and more than 30 unique sports. Examples of other sports taking place include archery, orienteering, powerlifting, roller speed skating and snooker.

As an exclusive global bowling equipment supplier and partner for IBF, QubicaAMF will provide eight full lanes with its latest EDGE String technology for The World Games. This year’s notable transition to string machines signifies the perceived value of QubicaAMF’s innovation in the technology, and its ability to withstand sports bowling at the highest levels.

The installation at BJCC illustrates how there is no longer a dependency for bowling centres to be within the vicinity of multi-sport venues, as EDGE String can adapt easily to temporary infrastructure demands. The flexibility given by QubicaAMF within the partnership allows IBF to ensure bowling remains a key multi-sport game, elevating the wider perception of bowling on the international stage.

A sustainable sport

QubicaAMF brings more than a century of expertise to the event, as a supplier of bowling equipment, products and services for facilities such as bowling entertainment centres, FECs, and cinemas. Featured at over 13,000 centres throughout 90 countries, the firm is the largest of its type in the sector with approximately 600 employees.

A representative from QubicaAMF says: “Beyond the ease of installation, EDGE String technology allows bowling to be more sustainable both environmentally and economically. Together with IBF, QubicAMF will continue to work to grow bowling, increase its appeal and popularity and make bowling one of the world’s most environmentally friendly sports.”

The bowling tournament schedule can be found on the official The World Games 2022 website.

QubicaAMF lanes have also been installed recently at one of France’s largest FEC complexes, an €8 million state-of-the-art project managed by a member of the country’s national bowling team.
