Sega Amusements International, a leading provider of innovative and immersive amusements, has unveiled its latest entertainment concept that will be debuting in Orlando next month.
Drone Racing Genesis is an exciting new game designed to be simple to engage with, created with both core and casual players in mind.
Players can challenge up to four friends in networked gaming while competing in championship mode or participating in a quick race.
Fast-growing sport
Those playing must sprint to the finish line while passing checkpoints and gathering those crucial “battery charge” power-ups to give their drone a powerful boost to blast past their rivals to place on the podium.
“We have seen drones rapidly become part of our society, initially for aerial photography but most excitingly it has spawned a huge global following for drone racing and E-sports – currently one of the fastest-growing sports and a worldwide phenomenon,” says CEO Paul Williams.
“Our game Drone Racing Genesis captures this exhilarating spirit of drone racing and brings it to indoor locations such as arcades and FECs for the very first time. It has all the fun and competitive rivalry of a traditional car racing game but using Drones.”
Four visually breathtaking race locales are featured in the game to be distributed by Sega Amusements International, including picture-perfect tropical coastal resorts, snow-capped mountains, intense volcanic caves in a wild nature park, and sparkling lights in a bustling metropolis.
“Blazing speeds”
Players can choose from five different drones, each with special traits and livery. Gamers are then encouraged to return to Drone Racing Genesis to sample each racecourse, gain a feel for their preferred drone, and “control the skies” while vying for the top spot on the leaderboard.
Sales & marketing executive Lester Travasso adds: “In real life, drone controllers are handheld devices with thumb joysticks. We opted for the intuitive, classic arcade game joystick controller, as we discovered it gives players ultimate control over their drone – they sure need full control, at those blazing speeds.”
The unique reclined seat in the Drone Racing Genesis cabinet gives players the impression that they are in a futuristic drone cockpit and immediately immerses them in the suspenseful racing action. Wherever the player is, the eye-catching colour-changing header, lighted cabinet borders, and under-seat feature demand their attention.
Drone Racing Genesis will be showcased at IAAPA Expo, found in Sega Amusements’ booth #1010 from 15 – 18 November 2022 at Orange County Convention Centre, Orlando, US.
