Wiegand, a family-owned manufacturer of toboggan runs, rail-mounted toboggans and stainless steel dry slides, has brought new thrills to the top of Speikboden Mountain in Italy. Next to the popular Wiegand AlpineCoaster, Klausberg-Flitzer, guests can now whizz down seven new terrain slides. These are built into the landscape and have the same difficulty levels as ski slopes: blue for beginners, red and black.
Over the seven tube slides, the firm has brought a total of 240 metres of sliding fun to the visitor destination.
New slides for Cross Woods
Cross Woods is a unique mountain slide park in Speikboden. Guests can access the attractions by paying a rental fee of five euros for the use of a slide mat for the day and, for each paying adult, one child under the age of 12 receives a slide mat free of charge. Visitors can ascend to the top in the cable car and enjoy the views along the way and then whizz back down on the slides.
The new slides are made of stainless steel and were individually fitted onto the mountain after being produced in Wiegand’s factory in the central German town of Rasdorf.
Known particularly for its mountain toboggans, Wiegand offers all-around service for stainless-steel slides that are durable and extremely sustainable. The family-owned business also produces the accompanying stairs, support columns and platforms for the rides. In addition, it offers waterslides under its wiegand.waterrides brand, which recently brought a selection of new stainless steel slides to Palm Beach.
Last year, Wiegand unveiled its latest generation of Alpine Coasters. The Alpine Coaster 2.0 offers a substantial improvement in rider comfort as well as less maintenance for operators. Speed can be controlled easier than before thanks to magnetic brakes. Once activated, a magnet will lower under the sledge, utilising a metal fin to break smoothly and safely.
