Rixen Cableway, a global pioneer in the design and manufacture of cable water ski and wakeboard systems, has announced the launch of Kids Cable, a lower, slower cable designed to help children learn and evolve in the sport.

As the inventor and world market leader in full-size cables, Rixen has scaled down its signature product to provide a safe, compact, and entertaining experience for both children and adults.

Fun, safe, & attractive

For wake park owners, Kids Cable can help extend their offering, with events such as camps and school visits potentially taking place outside normal opening hours.

The space-efficient design is ideal for project developers with limited space and requires 12 times less space than a conventional full-size cable. This compact design also improves sightlines across the system, enhancing safety.

For visitors, it reduces the barriers to entry for newcomers to wakeboarding. The straightforward launch and smooth speed control help beginners gain confidence and progress at their own pace.

With a running cable length of 130 to 450 metres, walking or swimming is easier, and a cable height of 5 to 6 metres reduces tension, so children need less power than with a full-size cable.

Designed with efficiency and flexibility in mind, Kids Cable features a motor capable of speeds up to 36 km/h, while allowing operators to set lower running speeds suited to beginners. This approach reduces operating costs while providing the perfect platform to learn and master wakeboarding skills in a safe environment.

In September, Rixen Cableway was named as the Official Cableway Partner of the International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation (IWWF). This was confirmed after a formal agreement was signed by José Antonio Pérez Priego, president of the IWWF, and Rixen CEO Richard Söhnchen at The World Games 2025 in Chengdu, China.

As part of this strategic partnership, Rixen will bring its acclaimed cableway technology and technical expertise to support IWWF's competitive events and will be a key player in the Federation's efforts to lobby for Olympic inclusion of cable wakeboarding and waterskiing.
