Sunkid, a leading provider of attractions for the whole family, has partnered with Bommelwereld, a new indoor theme park in the Netherlands, to deliver an interactive Tower attraction.

The park, which launched in October 2025, is themed around Marten Toonder's comic book universe and features his characters 'Olivier B. Bommel' and 'Tom Poes'.

The classic stories are brought to life in an indoor adventure that allows guests to play, discover, and experience them year-round.

Harbour-themed interactive Tower

The Sunkid Tower, named 'De Zware Last' (The Heavy Load), has a harbour crane design that is an ideal fit for the industrial theming of Bommelwereld's fictional town, Rommeldam.

The Tower combines this theming with play value and self-activity, as guests use the crane to pull themselves up and enjoy views across the busy fantasy world.

"Things are going well with the tower - quiet and relaxed. It has been very well received by the guests," says Edwin Bomers, owner, Bommelwereld.

He adds that the tower aligns perfectly with the park's concept, which focuses on interaction and experience.

"It works very well as an attraction. You can see that this own mechanical work - i.e. that the children still have to do something themselves - is particularly fun.

"Bommel and Tom Poes are cultural heritage. Grandparents in particular come to us with their grandchildren. It's an indoor park. We have been open since October, and we operate 365 days a year."

Guests use ropes to ascend to the top of the tower, from where they can enjoy views across the park.

In addition to its broad target audience and year-round operation, the park also welcomes international visitors.

"The IP (intellectual property) of Bommel and Tom Poes is actually purely national, but in the first week, 30 per cent of our guests had a foreign license plate - that's really very good," says Bomers.

With its Sunkid Tower, Bommelwereld delivers an interactive, thematically rich attraction that reflects the imaginative world of Rommeldam and the broader universe of Olivier B. Bommel and Tom Poes.

Recently, Sunkid once again worked with SnowWorld Neuss, Germany's first indoor ski hall, to add three Sunkid family rides to its new outdoor zone.
