Taylor Made Designs (TMD), a creator of uniforms and workwear for leading visitor attractions, theme parks, zoos, aquariums, and museums across the United Kingdom and Europe, has provided a comprehensive managed uniform solution for British cruise operator Ambassador Cruise Line, outfitting every crew member on board a new ship from bow to stern.
Ambassador Cruise Line is a no-fly cruise operator sailing from eight UK regional ports to destinations across Europe and the Caribbean.
When the company launched its second vessel, Ambition, it once again turned to Taylor Made Designs, having previously trusted the Dorset-based specialist to supply branded uniform for its first ship, Ambience.

The brief was as extensive as it was challenging: a complete range of branded uniforms for every role on board, covering 250 crew members across front-of-house, deck operations, galley, and engineering teams.
More than just clothing
"End-to-end uniform management is genuinely complex, especially in a cruise environment," says Ed Taylor, managing director of Taylor Made Designs.
"You're not dressing one team in one location, you're outfitting multiple departments, in a wide range of styles and sizes, and making sure the right garments reach the right port at exactly the right time."
TMD's account managers examined every aspect of Ambassador's uniform portfolio before sourcing the best available product lines, and then the in-house production team began work.
Despite a demanding timetable, the project was completed on schedule and within budget, resulting in an 860-piece collection of branded garments that ensures every member of the Ambition team has exactly what they need to represent the brand with confidence.

Producing the garments was only part of the story. What Ambassador needed was a uniform management partner that could eliminate the complexity from the process entirely, and that is exactly where TMD's end-to-end service proved its worth.
Taylor Made Designs provided Ambassador with a dedicated account manager with in-depth knowledge of the cruise sector, a 24/7/365 online e-store allowing the operator to order uniforms at any time, and branded stock held in both UK and EU depots, ready for swift delivery to whichever port it was needed.
"Cruise is one of those sectors where logistics matter just as much as the garments themselves," adds Taylor.
"A crew member joining a ship in Southampton needs their uniform waiting for them. A garment arriving a day late isn't just inconvenient, it undermines the onboard brand experience from the moment a guest steps aboard."
Understanding the sector's operational realities
TMD's ability to deliver at this scale is supported by over thirty years of experience across the marine, hospitality, travel, and leisure sectors.
That depth of knowledge means the team understands not just how to produce outstanding branded garments, but also how the operational realities of cruise, shift patterns, port rotations, and multinational crews impact everything from stock levels to delivery logistics.
The Ambassador project builds on an increasing track record of TMD work in environments where brand consistency, durability, and precision logistics are essential. Cruise lines, much like top visitor attractions, recognise that staff uniforms are never just clothing; they are one of the primary and most consistent brand signals a guest encounters.
TMD also recently created a sustainable brand experience for the National Oceanography Centre (NOC) in Southampton, UK. NOC challenged the company to create a truly sustainable staff uniform range that could showcase the brand without compromising on quality.
