Area15 in Las Vegas has opened a new restaurant called Kaia Handroll, offering Japanese-inspired cuisine and artworks generated by artificial intelligence (AI).
Meaning ‘of the sea’, Kaia features water-inspired décor and a full wall of AI-powered artworks depicting “powerful female characters”, Area15 said in a press release.
Additionally, guests can use their smartphones to activate a unique augmented reality (AR) moment on Kaia’s menus, with computer-generated characters and sea creatures coming to life on the physical menu.
Dishes at Kaia Handroll include handrolls with lobster truffle, blue crab and bluefin tuna, as well as classic and vegetarian options crafted by head chef Joseph Soto and sous chefs Juan Laguana and Christopher Soldivieri.
Guests can also enjoy sashimi and starters such as Japanese Caesar salad, and deserts including mochi and Japanese cheesecake.
Kaia Handroll is located in the middle of Area15’s spine, directly across from Oddwood Bar and adjacent to The Beast by Todd English.
It joins Area15’s unique food and beverage offerings, including Lumin Café by Elizabeth Blau at Illuminarium, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea at Lost Spirits Distillery, Datamosh inside Omega Mart, Dream Weaver Milk & Boba Bar and the Rocket Fizz candy shop.
Area15 is an immersive entertainment district with live events, attractions, interactive art installations and state-of-the-art technology.
AR menu experience at Kaia Handroll
The complex is expanding across 20 acres, and will soon be home to even more attractions. These include Universal Destinations & Experiences’ year-round horror venue inspired by Halloween Horror Nights.
In an interview with blooloop, Area15 CEO Winston Fisher said the eerie experience is going to be “badass” and will have guests “smiling and screaming”.
Meanwhile, the 2023 blooloop Innovation Awards, presented with Area15, are now open for entries. The awards celebrate outstanding innovation within the visitor attractions industry.
