Crimson & Griffyn Series 3DLP laser projectors support new projection mapping spectacular

Christie, the global visual and audio technology company, has announced that its Crimson and Griffyn Series 3DLP laser projectors have been used for a projection mapping spectacular that lights up the 216-foot Statue of Equality.

The newly inaugurated statue, which is is one of the world’s tallest metallic statues in a sitting position, can be found in Hyderabad in Telangana state and was created to commemorate the 11th-century Bhakti Saint Sri Ramanujacharya.

The projection-mapped show reveals the story and teachings of Sri Ramanujacharya. It uses eight Crimson Series laser projectors and four Griffyn 4K32-RGB pure laser projectors, which were installed and commissioned by Tricolor India Schauspiel, a renowned systems integrator in India and longstanding Christie partner.

Delivering bright & colourful images

Installed within two towers, the Crimson Series projectors deliver bright and intensely colourful images on the statue’s surface. The Griffyn 4K32-RGB projectors were used to display content on the statue’s surrounding gates and walls.

The statue is located on top of a 54-foot-high building, Bhadra Vedi, which encompasses a digital library and research centre, a theatre and an educational gallery. It was officially inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, during a ceremony in February 2022.

“This is a landmark project and we’ve spared no effort in bringing this highly anticipated projection mapping showcase to fruition using a very capable and dependable projection system that can withstand inclement weather conditions,” says Himanshu Sabharwal, creative director, Tricolor India Schauspiel.

“The Christie Crimson Series is our preferred choice due to its excellent track record in India, particularly in terms of performance, reliability and service support. We are also delighted to deploy Christie’s Griffyn 4K32-RGB projectors for detailed projections on various structures overlooking the Statue of Equality.”

Rishubh Nayar, sales director for India, Enterprise, Christie, adds, “We’re deeply honoured that our 3DLP and RGB pure laser projectors have been chosen to illuminate the Statue of Equality, which symbolizes Sri Ramanujacharya’s ideals of equality in all aspects of living and driving home the message of equality for all.

“Our heartfelt congratulations to the Tricolor India Schauspiel team for putting together a spectacular show that aptly demonstrates the capabilities of our high-brightness laser projection systems, which has built a solid reputation for delivering numerous large-scale projection mapping projects in India.”

Christie tech is ideal choice for this project

Christie’s Crimson Series projectors were an ideal choice for this project, as they are able to withstand demanding and high-use installations. The tough build of this range includes an IP5X-sealed, solid-state laser light source, which offers years of reliable, low-cost and almost maintenance-free operation.

This projection technology, with 31,500 lumens as well as Christie BoldColor Technology, provides bright and colourful images. In addition, the Crimson Series features ultra-fast processing, thanks to the Christie TruLife electronics,  alongside the built-in warp and blend capabilities of Christie Twist for installation flexibility and a quality visual experience.

Meanwhile, the award-winning Griffyn 4K32-RGB can illuminate any surface with 34,000 lumens, operating at less than 46dBA at full brightness. This technology was created to support complex large venue applications, rental and staging, sports venues and theme parks.

The wide colour gamut achieves over 96% of the Rec. 2020 colour space, for a memorable guest experience. Furthermore, the Griffyn 4K32-RGB includes innovative electronic colour convergence (ECC) capability, meaning that users can adjust convergence via remote control for easy colour alignment.

Christie is the official projection and display partner for Expo 2020 Dubai, where its technology and professional services feature throughout some of the event’s most popular venues including the Russia Pavilion, Austria Pavilion, the Opportunity Pavilion, the Canada Pavilion and the Emergency Operations Centre.
