D-BOX Technologies, a world leader in immersive motion entertainment experiences, will be showcasing its technology in different partner products at IAAPA Expo 2023, which takes place from 13 – 17 November at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

During the trade show, the company will be showcased in a brand-new concept, a versatile haptic floor developed by the Society for Arts and Technology (SAT). It will also demonstrate how its haptic technology can entertain all demographics through diverse types of interactive activities.

New haptic floor

The company collaborated with leading organisations to produce the innovative product, using its renowned haptic technology. The haptic floor, developed by the SAT, opens up a variety of opportunities for immersive entertainment experiences.

“This has been in the works with the SAT for many years,” says Nicolas Fournier, director of commercial sales for DBOX. “We strongly believe in this concept developed by the SAT  for the attractions market. This haptic floor has the potential to revolutionize attractions!”

This product is fully scalable in terms of both size and shape, meaning that there are countless applications. It can be customised for usage in large-scale party venues or nightclubs, matching haptic input to DJ/VJ performances; it can also be used to simulate action, adventure, weather, and nature, as well as historical events like earthquakes and dinosaur tramples, in immersive museums or theme parks. More subtle settings, such as live dance performances or fine art installations, might employ it too.

Regarding the haptic experience, the floor may be entirely customised as well. D-BOX’s distinctive abilities will be utilised to hand-code over 65,000 distinct effects, including sensations, movements, and textures, all of which are precisely timed to the content being displayed.

Select demonstration videos can be viewed during IAAPA Expo at booth #883. The haptic floor project was financed by the Quebec Government.

Sim racing

Both the pandemic and incredibly popular docuseries on big streaming services have spurred interest in motorsports among a wide range of viewers, which has raised the demand for virtual racing. Sim rigs, which require no staff and very little space, are perfect for FECs who want to increase the competitive socialising options they provide.

Several of D-BOX’s partners in sim racing, such as ImSim (booth #262), will be present at IAAPA to demonstrate the concept. Unlike traditional cabinet games, sim racing provides a realistic environment and precise haptic feedback to enhance immersion. This means that drivers can experience every aspect of the race, from fast and tight turns to the subtle sensation of their tyres losing grip and requiring a pit stop.

Solutions for sim racing can be readily customised, have low running expenses, and help increase revenue from food and drink sales. Venues can take part in local, regional, or even international sim racing contests, depending on owner preference and area attendance.

Haptic seating

D-BOX’s renowned haptic seating is available for VR activation and small theatres. Fournier is available for meetings to discuss any possible projects while he is present at IAAPA and attendees can arrange a time to meet with him here.
