Dataton, a global leader in audio visual software for visitor experiences, has announced that it will be showcasing a major new release of its WATCHOUT show composer software at ISE 2024 in Barcelona.
ISE 2024, the leading event for AV and Systems Integration, is taking place from 30 January – 2 February 2024. Delegates will be able to find Dataton at booth #3R700, where the firm will present version 7 of its flagship WATCHOUT software.
This software package enables show development and playback over numerous displays. The award-winning system is used across the globe for live events, 3D façade mapping, broadcast applications, houses of worship, signage, museums, planetariums, exhibition rooms, visitor attractions, and experience centres.
Enhanced programming power
With intelligent workflows and smooth optimisation, version 7 of WATCHOUT gives programmers more power. Teams can collaborate more effectively thanks to the new asset manager, and overall performance has been markedly improved.
Trond Solvold, sales director, Dataton, explains: “WATCHOUT is the go-to for show makers worldwide, with applications ranging from mammoth one-off happenings to in-house conferences. The arrival of version 7 represents something of a quantum leap for all WATCHOUT users. Our development team has worked hard to maintain familiar aspects such as WATCHOUT’s feel and ease of use, and at the same time giving a really snappy workflow.”
New audio and visual engines in WATCHOUT 7 will enable the creation of even more spectacular shows. The programming process is streamlined by new workflows for assets, auto-calibration and nodes, and more. Support for high-quality file formats, 10–12 bit colour depth, and HDR are now provided.
Solvold adds: “We have navigated several challenges during the development process and are proud to present a very solid WATCHOUT 7 built on a modern base. Users have loved WATCHOUT for over two decades and we’re confident the new release will exceed
expectations!”
First general release
Over the course of several months, WATCHOUT 7 has been progressively made available to a small number of clients. These early adopters from various AV industry segments have given the development team crucial feedback.
Mickey Fergus, media server associate at Show Sage, trialled version 7 on a community production of Big Fish.
He comments: “My favorite conceptual change within the WATCHOUT 7 model is that the line between “production” and “display” has become very blurred. Now, the “Producer” (previously known as Production) can output locally, especially because of how efficiently WATCHOUT 7 runs. This gives the user more flexibility when owning multiple machines, as they can be mix-and-matched for different systems far more easily.”
Dataton will be demonstrating the first general release, WATCHOUT 7.1, at booth #3R700 at ISE 2024.
