QLINE Consulting, a specialist consultancy in ticketing, tourism and technology, is inviting supplier tender responses for ticketing, membership, retail and catering software solutions for The Calanais Visitor Centre on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland.
The consultancy is managing the tender process on behalf of Urras nan Tursachan (The Standing Stones Trust).
The Calanais Stones are one of the most spectacular and best-preserved Neolithic sites in Scotland and are visited by approximately 100,000 people per annum.
A new visitor centre is set to open adjacent to the stones next spring, owned and managed by Urras nan Tursachan. The centre will feature interpretation underpinned by a strong conservation ethos, which seeks to enrich understanding of the site while protecting its cultural and natural heritage.
In addition to interpretation spaces, there will be retail, café and function suite facilities.
Responsible tourism
With a new booking system, guests will be encouraged to choose specific dates and times for their visit, especially during peak periods.
In collaboration with Historic Environment Scotland, which manages the Calanais Stones site, and with a dedication to community and sustainability, the new visitor centre will focus on conservation, education, and responsible tourism to protect the ancient stones for generations to come.
The closing date for proposals is 1 August 2025. Full details are available here.
Last month, QLINE Consulting announced the launch of Ticketing Ready, a digital platform developed in collaboration with b2me Tourism Marketing. This platform is free for attractions, and supports them in better understanding their ticketing requirements, enabling operators to engage the right vendors faster and with more confidence.
The consultancy helps visitor attractions find and deploy technology solutions to help increase revenue and grow, from online ticketing to onsite POS, CRM or marketing solutions. In a recent project project for Painshill Park, an acclaimed 18th-century landscape garden in Cobham, Surrey, UK, it issued a ticketing, membership, retail and catering software request for proposal (RFP).
