New ride family created in partnership with media-based attractions manufacturer Triotech

BoldMove Nation, the new vendor-independent service for the entertainment market, is celebrating the successful introduction of its latest dark ride series.

Smash & Reload is a family attraction conceived to guarantee fun for all ages. Rotating vehicles take teams around the ride floor, where players can load, aim and fire to beat friends’ high scores during the colourful experience.

A new homegrown IP has been designed for the ride, featuring zombie “TooMush” characters. By targetting their devices at the creatures, players can transform them back into their cute, friendly selves, before they wreak havoc on the city. BoldMove also has other characters and forms of interactivity under development.

Triotech, an award-winning creator of media-based attractions,  has applied its professional show control capabilities as well as audio and interactive technologies to build the ride. BoldMove devises media and gameplay content as concept designer, with partner Polymorph incorporating themed experience design for smooth venue integration.

The company experienced a rush of interest in Smash & Reload at IAAPA Expo Europe in September, leading to BoldMove continuing with the concept across a number of projects.

Benoit Cornet, BoldMove Nation CEO says “After launching Smash & Reload in the midst of the pandemic, we have finally been able to truly show the concept to the market. We are excited to see our vision confirmed as it fits so perfectly and naturally in most European parks we have been visiting, with just some minor adaptations to their infrastructure. This ensures that the parks are getting value for each dollar they spend.

“It’s been very encouraging to meet several parks owners who want to add a Smash & Reload to their attraction offering and have exactly that space to fit it in. With gameplay totally geared towards fun and experience, we achieve our mission: an extraordinary experience at a reasonable price tag – the very foundation of getting back to the essentials.”

A “phygital” experience

AR Hybrid Quest is another BoldMove concept designed to deliver results through a unique mix of innovation and simplicity. The product combines activities that take place in physical spaces (such as amusement parks and leisure complexes) with digital actions online to provide a fully integrated experience, suitably coined by the firm as “phygital”.

The mixed-reality game can take place in a themed indoor or outdoor area, with the experience taking place on visitors’ smartphones, negating the requirement for allocating handheld devices.

Guests will be taken to different destination areas with virtual quests or assignments. As well as being a proactive way to explore the park, the treasure hunt-style activity offers operators extra opportunities for marketing and loyalty programs.

BoldMove has designed a conceptual experience framework with a selection of smart modules and components for AR Hybrid Quest. Operators of various venue types have the option to utilise different themes such as TooMush or a Western, for example.

Triotech, BoldMove’s project partner, is demonstrating a miniature 3D model of the Smash & Reload dark ride at their IAAPA Expo booth in Orlando this week.

Earlier this year, BoldMove Nation announced Houba City, an Urban Experience Centre (UEC) designed to increase footfall and retention for themed environments.
