The cityof Chongqing in Southwest China plans toinvest 15 billion yuan ($2.17 billion) to createa movieand TVindustry park in Wulong county, a ruralmountainous area.
Tan Nianshen, the project manager for thepark(named after China's Belt and Road Initiatives) will include a theme park, a tourist town, a film studioanda training centre together with officespace.Construction is set to commencein early 2017.
The plan is for the parkto promote exhibitions, boost businessand collaborationbetweenChinese and foreign film companies.There will also be an emphasis onintegrating emerging technologiessuch as those in online entertainmentandgamingsuch as VR (virtual reality) and AR (augmented reality).
