Parc Astérix in France is launching a new nighttime show with drones called Asterix et la Potion d’étoiles this summer.
Presented every evening from 11 July at around 10pm above the lake, the original production is designed as a next-generation immersive experience.
It uses cutting-edge technology to transform the night sky into a living stage where characters like Astérix, Obélix, Dogmatix, Vitalstatistix and Getafix appear in large-scale projections.
"Drawn and animated in the air, they move through a visual narrative blending humour, adventure and poetry, faithful to the spirit of Uderzo and Goscinny," said Parc Astérix.
The show features more than 370 drones, multicoloured lasers, 60 water jets reaching heights of up to 20 metres, 2,500 pyrotechnic effects, and more than 150 projectors, all orchestrated via high-precision 3D modelling.
Additionally, the surface of the lake is transformed by projections onto a massive water screen, accompanied by an immersive soundtrack with nods to the Astérix films.
The production "invites visitors to be swept away by a vivid, sensory story, where each scene extends the adventure, culminating in a spectacular finale that brings the day to a close", the park added.
Parc Astérix investment plan
Parc Astérix has also expanded and transformed its Egypt zone to provide an immersive experience with Cleopatra and the Egyptian gods.
As part of the project, the former Oxygénarium attraction has been redesigned to become the Descent of the Nile water ride, and the Les Chaises Volantes attraction has been transformed into the Flight of Ibis ride.
Also in the Egypt zone is a buffet restaurant called Épidemaïs' Counter, which serves Middle Eastern cuisine in a themed setting.
The redesigned Egypt zone is part of Parc Astérix's €250 million, three-year investment plan.
